Сегодня запущена советская "Луна-2"
On September 12, 1959 the first Soviet automatic interplanetary station "Luna-2" (Moon-2) was launched. It was the first-ever station which reached the Moon surface. It was the second of two spacecrafts of the Soviet space Moon program. Initially the start of Moon-2 spacecraft was planned for September 9, but start was postponed because of the technical problems with "Vostok-L" rocket. On September 14 the station reached the Moon surface and delivered there a pennant with the image of the coat of arms of the USSR. Direct measurement of a solar wind was one of the main scientific achievements of mission "Moon-2".
