Месторождения аметиста встречаются в России на Среднем Урале, крупные кристаллы ювелирного качества на Приполярном Урале, на острове Шри-Ланка, у бухты Святой Марии, в Северной Америке и особенно в значительном количестве в Бразилии. Аметист был известен уже в Древнем Египте и Древнем Риме. Этот минерал используется в производстве ювелирных изделий.

Mins of amethyst are located in Russia in Central Ural Mountains, large crystals of jewelry quality are in the Subpolar Urals, on the island of Sri Lanka, at the bay Saint of Maria, in North America and especially in a significant amount in Brazil. Amethyst was known already in Ancient Egypt and Ancient Rome. This mineral is used in production of jewelry.
