В 1878 году в Москве был основан знаменитый парк Сокольники. Площадь парка составляет пятьсот семнадцать гектаров. В шестнадцатом — семнадцатом веках на месте сегодняшнего парка проходили царские соколиные охоты, отсюда и название парка. В этот период на месте парка был лес, где охотился царь Иван Грозный.
