On March 13, 1781 the legendary English astronomer William Gershel found Uranus - the seventh planet of our Solar system. Discovery has been made by means of the telescope constructed by Gershel. The blue ice planet has received a name in honor of the Greek god of the sky Uranus. People observed Uranus before William Gershel, but considered that it was a star.
