Kizhi is a state historical, architectural and ethnographic memorial estate located in the Republic of Karelia of the Russian Federation. The name of the reserve comes from the name of the island on which it is situated. On the territory of the reserve the following things are forbidden: hunting, collecting down and eggs, visiting islands with nesting-places until the end of birds' reproduction (August 1), forest draining land-clearing, use of toxic chemicals in forest and agriculture, geological and exploration works and mining. Yachts and other transport traffic is limited to general use roads and public waterways. Cattle grazing is limited to lands of state farm "Progress". Free movement, berrying, fishing etc. are allowed only to locals and employees. Parking and overnight stops for tourists are allowed only in special places.
