Запуск "Зонд-2" к Марсу
30 ноября 1964 года к Марсу был запущен советский космический аппарат "Зонд-2". Запуск был осуществлен с космодрома Байконур. Автоматическая Межпланетная Станция "Зонд-2" была запущена с целью проведения научных исследований Марса с пролётной траектории, передачи информации о межпланетном пространстве и о пространстве около Марса. Запуск был успешным, однако солнечные батареи на космическом аппарате раскрылись не сразу и не полностью. Из-за этого на космическом аппарате была нехватка электропитания. Связь с космическим аппаратом была потеряна в мае 1965 года. Несмотря на это, впервые в условиях космического полета проведено испытание плазменных электрических ракетных двигателей в качестве исполнительных органов системы ориентации.
On November 30, 1964 to Mars the Soviet Zond-2 spacecraft was launched. Launch was carried out from Baikonur Cosmodrome. The automatic Interplanetary Station "Zond-2" was launched for the purpose of carrying out scientific researches of Mars from a flying trajectory, information transfer about interplanetary space and space around Mars. The launch was successful, although solar batteries on the spacecraft did not revealed at once and not completely. Due to that fact there was a shortage of power supply on the spacecraft. Connection with the spacecraft was lost in May, 1965. Despite that, an examination of plasma electric rocket motors as executive motors of orientation system was carried out in the conditions of space flight for the first time.
