The first mention of ties can be found in the history of Ancient Egypt where the piece of tissue of the correct geometrical form thrown over shoulders served as a peculiar symbol of the social status of his owner. One of the first ties were worn by ancient Chinese. Stone statues near a tomb of the emperor Shihuangdi testify to it. Modern ties appeared in 1990-ies years. They were developed by researchers Thomas Fink and Yoong Mao from laboratory of the Cambridge University. They also established that there are at least 85 ways of setting of a tie and more than 85 of knots. Setting of all these knots requires only 9 movements.
