15 января 1973 года на поверхность Луны сел советский космический аппарат "Луноход-2". Он был предназначен для изучения механических свойств лунной поверхности, фотосъёмки и телесъёмки Луны, проведения экспериментов с наземным лазерным дальномером, наблюдений за солнечным излучением и прочих исследований. Луноход был доставлен на Луну автоматической межпланетной станцией «Луна-21».
On January 15, 1973 the Soviet spacecraft "Lunokhod-2" sat on a surface of the Moon. It was intended for studying of mechanical properties of a lunar surface, photographing and teleshooting of the Moon, carrying out experiments with a land laser range finder, supervision over sunlight and other researches. The moon rover was delivered to the Moon by automatic interplanetary station "Luna-21".
