25 июня 1966 года был запущен был запущен первый советский метеоспутник космической системы «Метеор». Он назывался "Космос-122". Спутник был предназначен для испытания системы получения спутниковой метеорологической информации, которая получала изображения облачности, снежного покрова и ледяных полей на освещённой и теневой сторонах Земли.
On June 25, 1966 the first Soviet weather satellite of the space Meteor system was launched. It was called "Kosmos-122". The satellite was intended for test of the obtaining satellite meteorological information system which received images of overcast, snow cover and ice-rinks on the lit and shadow sides of Earth.
