On September 21, 1801 Jacobi Boris Semyonovich was born. This is a German and Russian physicist-inventor who became famous for creation of a galvanoplasty. He also constructed the first electric motor and the first telegraph that can print letters. Boris was born in a wealthy Jewish family. After graduation a university he worked as an architect. Boris was interested in physics. This hobby led him to the serious invention - the first-ever electric motor with rotation of a working shaft. In 1834 Jacobi build the electric motor based on a principle of an attraction and pushing away between electromagnets. Nicholas I was interested by scientific works of Jacobi who invited him to Russia and allocated 50 000 rubles for Jacoba's experiments in the field of electromagnetic force. Jacobi went to Russia and became a Russian citizen. Until the end of his life he considers Russia the second homeland.
