Космическая пыль различается по ее астрономическому местоположению: межгалактическая пыль, межзвездная пыль, межпланетная пыль и околопланетная пыль (как в планетарном кольце). Приблизительно 40,000 тонн космической пыли достигают поверхности Земли каждый год.

Cosmic dust can be distinguished by its astronomical location: intergalactic dust, interstellar dust, interplanetary dust and circumplanetary dust (such as in a planetary ring). About 40,000 tons of cosmic dust reaches the Earth's surface every year.
