Сегодня на территории России действует 47 национальных парков. Многие из этих парков были созданы еще во времена СССР. Первый Национальный парк был образован в 1971 году. Бурное расширение сети национальных парков России пришлось на 1991—1994 годы, затем темпы роста числа национальных парков снизились. Согласно законодательству РФ, национальные парки являются одним из типов особо охраняемых природных территорий.
Today there are 47 national parks in the territory of Russia. Many of these parks were created at the time of the USSR. The first National park was formed in 1971. Rough expansion of a network of national parks of Russia fell on 1991 — 1994, then growth rates of number of national parks decreased. According to the legislation of the Russian Federation, national parks are one of types of especially protected natural territories.
