Старые русские приметы на 5 февраля. Этот день известен как День Агафия. В этот день люди проверяли запасы хлеба, считая, хватит ли хлеба до нового урожая, не придется ли семье голодать. В течение дня люди также наблюдали за погодой: погода с утра до полудня показывала какая будет первая половина следующей зимы, а погода с полудня до вечера предвещает погоду второй половины будущей зимы.

This day people checked bread stocks, considering, whether it would be enough bread till a new crop, whether the family will starve. During the day people also watched the weather: the weather since morning till the forenoon shows what would be the first half of the next winter, and weather from noon till the evening shows the weather of the second half of next winter.
